These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Grub (operated as a sole trader based in Dublin, Ireland). By creating an account or using the Service as a guest, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms.

2. Description of service

Grub is a mobile application for iOS that helps users track food intake, monitor nutrition, set health goals, log weight, build habits, and connect with friends for accountability. The Service includes:

  • Food logging via search, barcode scanning, and manual entry
  • Calorie and macro tracking with personalised targets
  • Recipe browsing, creation, and saving
  • Weight tracking and progress charting
  • Hydration and fasting tracking
  • Workout logging
  • Social features including friends, leaderboards, and recipe sharing
  • Apple Health integration
  • Grub Premium subscription features

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Grub. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

If you are between 13 and 17, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

You must not use the Service if you are prohibited from doing so under any applicable law.

4. Your account

You may create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email OTP, or use the Service as a guest with limited functionality.

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your account credentials secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us immediately at getgrubie@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Subscriptions & billing

Grub Premium

Grub Premium is an optional, auto-renewable subscription available in two tiers:

  • Monthly: €5.99 per month
  • Annual: €29.99 per year

Prices are in Euro and include applicable VAT. Prices may vary by region as determined by Apple.

Free trial

New subscribers may be eligible for a 7-day free trial. The trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You will not be charged during the trial period.

Free trials are available to new subscribers only and may not be available in all regions. Apple determines eligibility for introductory offers.

Billing

All billing is handled by Apple through the App Store. Your subscription will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase and will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

We do not have access to your payment details. All payment disputes should be directed to Apple.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to Premium features until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.

Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Apple will notify you of price changes before they take effect, and your continued subscription after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Refunds

All refund requests must be made through Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no control over Apple's refund decisions.

6. Free tier limitations

The free tier of Grub includes access to core food logging features with the following limitations, which may be adjusted from time to time:

  • A limited number of days of logging history
  • A limited number of saved recipes
  • A limited number of saved meals

Current free tier limits are displayed within the app. Upgrading to Grub Premium removes these limitations.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any code intended to disrupt or damage the Service
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users through social features
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent
  • Provide false or misleading information in your profile or food logs

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of this section without notice.

The nutritional information, calorie targets, and health insights provided by Grub are for general informational and wellness purposes only. They are based on widely used formulas (such as Mifflin-St Jeor) and publicly available nutritional data, which may not be accurate for all individuals.

You should always consult a qualified healthcare professional, doctor, dietitian, or nutritionist before making significant changes to your diet, exercise routine, or health practices, particularly if you:

  • Have or suspect you have a medical condition
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a history of disordered eating
  • Are under 18
  • Are taking medication that may be affected by dietary changes

Grub is not responsible for any health outcomes arising from your use of the Service. Use your own judgement and seek professional advice.

9. Intellectual property

The Grub app, website, logo, design, code, content (including Grub-branded recipes), and all related intellectual property are owned by Grub and are protected by Irish and international copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Grub app on your personal iOS device, subject to these Terms.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense any part of the Service without our express written permission.

10. User content

"User content" means any content you create within Grub, including custom food entries, recipes you create, and notes.

You retain ownership of your user content. By creating content in Grub, you grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process it solely to provide the Service to you.

You are responsible for ensuring that your user content does not infringe the rights of any third party and complies with these Terms.

We do not use your food logs or personal health data to train machine learning models or for advertising purposes.

11. Third-party services

Grub integrates with third-party services including Apple HealthKit, Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, and Open Food Facts. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party services, and their inclusion does not constitute an endorsement.

In-app purchases are subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
  • Nutritional data in the food database is complete or accurate for all products
  • Calorie and macro calculations will be accurate for every individual
  • The Service will meet your specific health or fitness goals

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Irish law.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Grub shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity
  • Any damages arising from your reliance on nutritional information provided by the Service
  • Any health or medical outcomes arising from use of the Service
  • Interruption or unavailability of the Service

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for Grub Premium in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish or EU law.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account from within the app.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without notice or liability, if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law.

On termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Sections 8 (Health disclaimer), 9 (Intellectual property), 12 (Disclaimers), 13 (Limitation of liability), and 16 (Governing law) survive termination.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you via a notification in the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also be entitled to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
